In Oman, the Omanisation programme has been in operation since 1988, working toward replacing expatriates with trained Omani personnel. Indians, pakistanis, flipinos, nepalese etc still work for building, housekeeping... Many of them live in the old quarters of the town. Catholic foreign workers are allowed to work in Oman.
Expatriates form more than one-fourth of the 2 million population.
